Pirelli Calendar 2010 by Terry Richardson

The Pirelli Calendar has over the years become sort of universally legendary. It is the wonderful annual union of scantily clad super models x beautiful photography x exotic settings that culminates in an eye and mouth watering work of art that can be enjoyed all year round. For the 2010 calendar we have Terry Richardson helming the ship on route to Bahia, Brazil with his genetically gifted entourage in tow -think Miranda Kerr, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Catherine McNeil…and the list goes on.

The Calendar launched last month and I'm scouring the web, trying to get a hold of one for an xmas prezzie to die for!

COVET THIS: Dita Lanciers

Last week, my good friend Tommy O' Gara came from Tokyo for a quick visit en route to his mini trunk show in KL and Bangkok. He brought down all the latest Dita frames for the season and just for kicks, proceeded to dangle them in front of me while i salivated with desire. Tommy cracked open a case to show me the his Lanciers (the latest from Dita Eye wear) and i was about . The Lancier collection consists of 3 designs in 3 colours with changeable stems. Only 450 pairs were produced and word on the street is that local store Surrender will be stocking a few sets.

MOVIE TO WATCH: Where The Wild Things Are

SPIKE JONZE adapts a very short children's story into an feature length epic adventure for all ages to enjoy. The film retains everything inspiring about the book by Maurice Sendak, perfectly capturing its portrayal of childhood wonder, with the realism created by using actors in suits rather than CGI-ing everything to death making it all the more marvellous.

Summary by Huggo:
An adolescent named Max has an active imagination, and he will throw fits if others don't go along with what he wants. Max, following an incident with Claire (his sister) and her friends, and following a tantrum which he throws as a result of his Mother paying more attention to her boyfriend than to him - runs away from home. Wearing his wolf costume at the time, Max not only runs away physically, but runs toward a world in his imagination. This world, an ocean away, is inhabited by large wild beasts, including one named Carol who is much like Max himself in temperament. Instead of eating Max like they normally would with creatures of his type, the wild things befriend Max after he proclaims himself a king who can magically solve all their problems.

DJ PARTY: Misty Rabbit Vs TrustFun

It's all about the Prada connection today. My next topic is on this lady, Miss Mimi Xu aka Misty Rabbit - she's a staple at Prada parties (helming the deck at the Prada Transformers in Souel earlier this year and The Prada Book launch in London just last week). No stranger to the music industry, by day Mimi used to work at Modular Records and Kitsune and now runs record label Kuskus - they are responsible for the hippest runway music for fashion week. When night falls she is resident at notorious Parisian nightclubs such as Regine, Le Baron, Social Club to name a few. Her electro-disco-tech sets never fails to get the crowd rocking. This we look forward to witnessing as she will be playing in Singapore this Friday 27th December at the White Rabbit! The party, organized by the local party collective, Trustfun is sure to be a hit with the vivacious party crowd about town. Can't Wait!

PRADA

Last week or so, the cream of the social crops the world over, donned their best garbs and in their respective cities they gathered to celebrate the fruition of a wonderful work of art. It was the launch of The Prada Book - a beautiful anthology of the illustrious history of the label. I was fortunate to be invited to join the Singapore contingent of Prada-philes down at the namesake's brand new store at Ion Orchard. Catch-up with old friends, new friends, canapes and bubbly and best of all, I acquired a copy of the BOOK! Slick! All I have left to say is PRADA I HEART YOU!

NOWHERE BOY

Ever wonder how legends come to be? Before legends become legendary?? Get ready to watch and learn. Nowhere boy, the new film by artist, Sam Taylor-Wood (wife of Jay Jopling, White Cube) is a chronicle of John Lennon's childhood. The film, based on the book "Imagine This: Growing Up with My Brother John Lennon" by Lennon's half sister, Julia Baird marks Taylor-Wood's full-length directorial debut. Futhermore, the scoring of the film is done by the British electronica duo Goldfrapp (Whom we adore). The film premiered at London film festival back in October and will be on general release in the UK this December. Fingers crossed we get to see it this side of the world!
